  1. Finally I've got round to opening a shop at FOLKSY. Pontification, its the thing I'm best at so its taken me months to get started, a couple of weeks of taking photos, then yesterday I made the jump.

In case you havn't come across FOLKSY before it is an online market place selling handmade gifts and original artwork, straight from the makers themselves, so a bit like ETSY which everyone has heard of EXCEPT all the makers are British.

So far I only have a few items in the shop but I'm planning to expand the range by adding to it each week. No more pontificating ! So if you want a peek, heres the link

  2. 4 operas, 15 hours of music ! It goes on and on and on.

Looking back at my last blog post in November I said I would post some pictures of the ring I was learning to make. Well I needed some special tools for the job and with the post strike & Christmas they never arrived until 23rd December so I have only recently taken up the challenge again.

I am trying to make a Solitaire ring with a basket setting and its definately feeling like a Saga, (dictionary definition  “a long story of heroic achievement” ). It has taken me out of my comfort zone and is almost certainly the most difficult thing I have ever tried to make in Jewellery class.

Here are some photos of the first attempt.

Above photo shows the ring I am replacing and the early stages of making the basket and the shaft.

Thankyou Chris at Touchmark Studios for your patience and as always excellent teaching, I’m now off to dress up and flash this sparkly babe about !

  3. So I said I would update you on this weeks jewellery projects.  A trip to Glastonbury got me feeling quite mystical, then I remembered I had a dress with hares on the pattern so I made this necklace, just for fun.

Then I made some earrings to match another top I have.

At Touchmark Studios I've been learning to do something much more challenging, stone setting. It started off when a friend asked if I could resize a ring for her. There were complications and the upshot is that it has now become a whole new project and I am learning to make a ring with a basket setting from scratch. It has taken me right out of my comfort zone.  I"ll post some pictures next week. Bye till then
